Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join an independent specialist day school in West Kent. This high-quality educational setting supports a diverse group of pupils with complex educational needs, communication difficulties, and challenging behaviours.

The school provides a nurturing environment tailored to children with a wide range of SEN needs, offering structured support, individualised learning, and a strong multidisciplinary approach. As a Band 6 or 7 therapist, you will play a central role in delivering assessment, intervention, and ongoing support to enhance pupils’ communication skills and overall learning experiences.

This is an excellent opportunity for a therapist passionate about paediatric SEN, collaboration, and creating meaningful impact within a caring specialist school environment.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:
• Assess, diagnose, and deliver therapeutic interventions for pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN) and associated complex needs.
• Develop child-centred therapy plans and work collaboratively with teaching staff, support teams, and other clinicians.
• Provide advice, strategies, and hands-on support to staff to promote communication-friendly environments.
• Contribute to multidisciplinary reviews, Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs), and ongoing progress monitoring.
• Maintain accurate, detailed clinical records in accordance with HCPC and RCSLT standards.
• Support whole-school communication initiatives and contribute to service development within the therapy team.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:
• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
• HCPC registration and eligibility for RCSLT membership.
• Experience working with children with complex needs, communication difficulties, and/or challenging behaviours.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• A reflective, child-centred approach, with enthusiasm for working in specialist school environments.
