About the Role
The Peer Support Specialist is a valued member of the High Fidelity Wraparound (HFW) Program team, providing individualized, community-based support services to children, youth, young adults, and families with complex behavioral health needs. High Fidelity Wraparound is an intensive, team-based care coordination model designed to help individuals remain successful in their homes, schools, and communities while reducing the need for higher levels of care.
As a Peer Support Specialist, you will use your lived experience to build trusting relationships with clients and families, promote hope and resiliency, and support individuals in achieving their personal goals. Working closely with treatment teams, you will help clients navigate systems of care, connect with resources, develop self-advocacy skills, and strengthen community supports.
Productivity Expectation: This position has a baseline productivity expectation of 50%, generally equivalent to an average of approximately 3.5 hours of direct client service per workday. The meeting of such requirements will be addressed in accordance with the Company policies and applicable law.
Responsibilities
· Provide individualized peer support services to children, youth, young adults, and families enrolled in the High Fidelity Wraparound Program
· Build trusting relationships through shared lived experience, encouragement, and mentorship
· Support client engagement in behavioral health services and community-based activities
· Assist clients and families in identifying strengths, goals, and personal recovery strategies
· Promote self-advocacy, self-determination, and independent decision-making
· Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment teams to support coordinated care
· Help clients access community resources, educational supports, employment services, housing resources, and other social supports
· Participate in treatment planning and team meetings as appropriate
· Document services and activities according to program and organizational requirements
· Provide transportation assistance and accompany clients to appointments and community activities when appropriate
· Maintain compliance with HIPAA, ethical standards, and professional boundaries
· Participate in required trainings, supervision, and professional development activities
· Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
· High school diploma or GED required
· Lived experience with behavioral health services, recovery, or supporting a family member, loved one, or significant support person receiving behavioral health services
· Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
· Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and backgrounds
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
· Valid California driver's license, reliable transportation, and active automobile insurance
· Proof of education required
Preferred Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Behavioral Health, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field preferred but not required
· One or more years of experience as a Peer Specialist, Peer Mentor, Family Partner, or related role
· Knowledge of recovery-oriented services, peer support principles, and strengths-based practices
· Knowledge of behavioral health systems and community resources
· Experience working with children, youth, young adults, and families
· Bilingual skills preferred
