Marvell鈥檚 Coherent DSP team develops state-of-the-art mixed signal analog and digital signal processing solutions for optical interconnects using coherent technology, which are critical for connecting hyperscaler data centers across distances of 20km to 1000km, and beyond. Our portfolio includes industry-leading products like Canopus and Deneb for 400G transmission, Orion for 800G, and next generation 1.6T platforms that enable high-performance optical connectivity for AI cluster, cloud, and telecom networks.

What You Can Expect

As an Applications Engineering Intern, you will gain hands-on experience supporting our coherent DSP solutions while working alongside experienced engineers. Your responsibilities will include:

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Testing and Validation: Participate in testing and validation activities for Marvell鈥檚 coherent DSP solutions in optical system platforms under supervision

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Problem-Solving Support: Assist in debugging optical, analog, and signal processing problems replicating customer implementations

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Technical Documentation: Prepare chart reviews and short briefs summarizing your project test results and recommendations.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams including analog, digital, DSP, system, optical and firmware teams to solve problems.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Component Characterization: Support characterization and validation of high-speed electro-optic components such as drivers, Mach Zehnder modulators, ICRs, and lasers

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Test Development: Assist in developing automated test solutions and analysis tools for optical modules and test platforms

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Learning Opportunities: Participate in technical training sessions on Marvell鈥檚 coherent DSP solutions

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Project Participation: Work on meaningful projects that contribute to the team鈥檚 objectives and business goals

What We're Looking For

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Currently enrolled as a full-time student in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited 4-year university

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Pursuing a Bachelor鈥檚 or Master鈥檚 degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Must have authorization to work in the United States

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Commitment to work for the entire duration of the internship (3 months during summer recess months, generally in the period of May through September)

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Enthusiastic to learn and perform hands-on technical work

Preferred Requirements

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Coursework or project experience in digital signal processing (DSP) and/or photonics.

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Basic knowledge of optical communications and/or high-speed electronics

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Programming experience in Python, C/C++, or MATLAB

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Understanding of circuit design and electronic systems

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Understanding of fiber optics systems

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Understanding of data center equipment

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Experience with test equipment and measurement techniques

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Knowledge of Ethernet protocols (preferred)

聽聽聽聽聽聽聽聽 Prior exposure to semiconductor or telecommunications industry

Expected Base Pay Range (USD)

27 - 53, $ per hour.

The successful candidate鈥檚 starting base pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location and market conditions. The expected base pay range for this role may be modified based on market conditions.
