Overview 

We are seeking a Staff or Sr. Staff Hardware Validation Engineer (individual contributor) responsible for board and system bring-up, functional validation, and root-cause debug from EVT through production. This is a high-ownership, hands-on role that drives functional readiness of server platforms. The successful candidate will own the end-to-end validation strategy and work closely with hardware design, firmware, BIOS/BMC, SI/PI, thermal, and software teams. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead board and system bringup from the first poweron to full functional enablement. 

  • Own functional validation plans for server platforms through EVT and DVT. 

  • Validate: 

-Power rails, sequencing, margining, and VR controls 

-Reset and clock behavior 

-Boot flows (BIOS, BMC, firmware) 

-PCIe enumeration, link training, and stability 

-DDR bringup and training (with firmware teams) 

-Management interfaces (I2C/I3C, SPI, MDIO, GPIO) 

  • Perform deep handson debug across HW/FW/SW domains. 

  • Drive rootcause analysis and validation of fixes. 

  • Develop or maintain automation tools/scripts (Python, Shell, TCL). 

  • Support DVT/PVT, factory bringup, board respins, and field issues. 

  • Generate validation reports, bringup guides, and debug documentation. 

  • Communicate status, risks, and blockers clearly to stakeholders. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field. 

  • 6–8+ years of experience in board or platform hardware validation. 

  • Handson experience with serverclass or highperformance platforms. 

  • Strong understanding of power sequencing, reset, clocks, and boardlevel debug. 

  • Experience validating PCIe, DDR, Ethernet at a functional level. 

  • Proficiency with lab equipment: 

  • Oscilloscopes 

  • Logic analyzers 

  • PCIe / I2C protocol analyzers 

  • Strong documentation and communication skills. 

  • Ability to independently own validation execution. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering. 

  • 10+ years of platform bringup or validation experience. 

  • Experience with BIOS, BMC, and bootflow debug. 

  • Automation and scripting experience (Python preferred). 

  • Experience supporting manufacturing, factory, or field escalations. 

Minimum Qualifications:

•    Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 5+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.

$180,500.00 - $270,700.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted.
