Position Summary
 This role is responsible for ensuring that CNC-machined aerospace materials, components, and assemblies meet all internal, customer, and regulatory quality requirements.


The Quality Engineer supports both New Product Development (NPD) and production environments, with a focus on complex, tight-tolerance machined components used in critical aerospace applications. This position contributes to achieving safety, quality, delivery, and cost (SQDC) objectives through the effective application and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS). The Quality Engineer reports to the Quality Manager and supports the company’s mission, vision, and values.
 
Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with safety, 6S, and quality policies by addressing safety issues promptly, completing required training, and serving as a role model for site standards.
  • Maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with AS9100 and customer requirements.
  • Partner with Engineering and Production to address quality issues, implement containment, and drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure quality compliance for CNC-machined aerospace components and special processes.
  • Review drawings, GD&T, manufacturing plans, and specifications to ensure quality and manufacturability.
  • Lead nonconformance management, MRB activities, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Support First Article Inspection (FAI) activities per AS9102 and customer requirements.
  • Support process validation, PFMEA, APQP, and PPAP activities.
  • Develop and maintain quality documentation, inspection plans, and records to ensure full traceability.
  • Conduct internal audits and support customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.
  • Support supplier quality, including material certification review and corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap, rework and cost of quality.
  • Analyze quality performance metrics and report results.

 

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in a Quality role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience Supporting machined components with complex geometries.
  • Familiarity with aerospace quality standards and documentation (e.g., AS9100, AS9102, PFMEA, PPAP).
  • Experience with Quality Systems (e.g., ISO, AS, NADCAP).
  • Experience with AS13100.
  • Experience using ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, D365, Epicor).
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or similar certification.
  • Audit experience (AS9100, ISO, NADCAP).
  • Aerospace industry experience.
  • High-mix, low volume manufacturing experience.

Work Environment

  • Combination of office and manufacturing floor environment.
  • Hands-on involvement with machining cells and inspection areas.
  • Interaction with advanced CNC equipment and aerospace-grade materials.
  • May require occasional interaction with customers and suppliers.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Flexible and long hours are sometimes required. Physically medium duty work required. 
  • Requires standing continuously and walking and sitting occasionally throughout the day, working from a computer. 
  • Able to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 25 pounds frequently.
