Construction Control Representative

NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the Bureau of Reclamation (USBR). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, and technical support to the Bureau of Reclamation through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an “at-will” relationship. This means that an Enrollee may terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

PLEASE NOTE: An “Enrollee” is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An “Enrollee” is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions.

The duty station for this position is the BOR Pojoaque Field Office in Pojoaque, NM. Frequent local travel is required. Candidates must have their own personal transportation, a valid driver's license, and auto insurance. Mileage will be reimbursed at the standard IRS rate starting from the duty station.

Duties:

Document compliance status with contract schedules, specifications, and shop drawings and report potential noncompliance as directed. Completes daily field report. Enrollees do not approve, negotiate, or make decisions; approvals and decisions remain with Reclamation officials.

• Observe and inspect construction to document compliance status and report or escalate as directed by Reclamation officials without supervising federal employees or contractors. Performs work as directed. 70%
• Become familiar with contract requirements and safety requirements. 10%
• Complete daily field reports to document construction activities with a high level of detail. 20%

Qualifications:

HS/GED Degree with a minimum of 5 years of additional experience in Construction Inspection

• Experience required with Windows, MS Word, MS Outlook, Adobe Acrobat

• Required Certifications: OSHA 35
• Health and Safety Considerations: Reclamation Safety and Health Standards Training – to be provided by Reclamation
• Required Safety Gear: Hard hat, safety boots, protective glasses, hearing protection will be provided by Reclamation for inspection of construction sites
• Safety Gear Use: While on construction site
• Physical requirements: Work requires frequent walking, climbing, stooping, bending, and may frequently require more than eight hours in a day. Work in adverse weather conditions is required. Work involves walking on uneven ground, raw and finished water pipeline alignments including trenches, descending and climbing ladders to inspect structures that may be in confined spaces such as tanks and vaults, water treatment plants, and other specialized projects as part of the regional water system and facilities.
