40Position Summary
The Maintenance Worker performs routine tasks to ensure the smooth operation of campus buildings and facilities. Assists with repairs and preventive maintenance to support the upkeep of the campus.Duties & Responsibilities
- Provides essential support to skilled Plumbers, Electricians, or HVAC technicians and ensures efficient workflow.
- May operate a truck, forklift, and hydraulic lift to transport materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Arranges and sets up furniture to optimize space and functionality.
- Performs preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on mechanical systems, identifying and repairing plumbing leaks or breaks, opening clogged lines and drains, and replacing washers and other minor parts.
- Changes filters in Air Handler Units and removes and replaces ceiling tiles.
- Responds to 24-hour emergency calls to minimize disruption and ensure safety.
- Observe buildings and grounds to ensure safe, well-maintained conditions, advising the maintenance supervisor of any repairs needed. Performs general maintenance tasks, including furniture repair and removal.
- Executes special projects and construction tasks including building with wood or metal, drywall hanging and taping, painting, as assigned.
- Recommends necessary supplies and equipment for purchase and monitors the inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to assist plumbers, electricians and HVAC technicians.
- Skill in the use of hand and power tools.
- Skill in decision-making and problem solving.
- Ability to operate handheld power equipment and/or light machinery.
- Ability to operate forklift or lift equipment.
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
6 months’ job-related experience.
Conditions of Employment:
- Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
- Considerable physical effort. Requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing or moving objects up to 50 lbs. and occasionally over 50 lbs.
- Constant standing/walking.
- Work involves exposure to high noise levels, extreme temperatures, exposure to fumes or dust, repetitive motions, or working in confined spaces.
- Use of tools or equipment requires a high degree of dexterity.
- May be exposed to machinery with moving parts.
- The work requires the appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including but not limited to gloves, masks, and other protective devices as required.
Schedule Designation:
- This role will be required to work on-site in Santa Fe, NM.
- Typically, 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. May be required to work after hours and/or weekends.
- May be required to be on-call.
