Summary:

Performs clinical diagnostic nuclear medicine testing, including general studies, cardiac studies, and the computer interactions associated with these studies. Takes call on a rotational basis.

Responsibilities:

*Transports patients to scanning room; prepares and maintains rooms. Explains procedure to patients. *Administers isotope dosage accurately following established departmental procedures; accurately records dosage administered. Observes patient during procedure and reports any unusual occurrences to appropriate personnel. *Schedules Nuclear Medicine exams in order to coordinate with other patient exams. *Performs Nuclear Medicine studies; determines appropriate isotope required; obtains patient history and reviews patient condition. *Maintains gamma cameras and other equipment in efficient operating order; performs quality control on a regularly scheduled basis; contacts outside service for major malfunctions. *Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Uses Radiology Information System, hospital information systems as required. *Checks equipment, supplies and accessories on a regular basis. Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas. *Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, workshops, current literature, inservices and/or seminars. Attends meetings as required or requested. *Takes call for Nuclear Medicine procedures. *Works with, oversees and evaluates student Nuclear Medicine technologists
