Join EANM as an NNM-Ophthalmic Technician I, and support physicians with patient evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment. This role requires completion of the AAO Independent Study Course and at least one year of ophthalmic trainee experience. You’ll work directly with patients, families, and providers while helping protect the physician’s time through preparation and follow-up care. 

**Technicians are expected to sit for the COA exam within 18 months of hire.

What You'll Do:

  • Document medical, family, and ocular history in the EMR 
  • Perform patient testing (visual acuity, IOP, refraction, slit lamp, motility, visual fields, etc.) 
  • Administer dilating drops and assist with minor office procedures 
  • Prepare, stock, and maintain exam lanes and equipment
  • Support physicians by ensuring accurate charting and patient flow 

Specialty/OR Duties (If Applicable)

  • Assist in preparing the OR and anticipating surgeon needs
  • Maintain sterile technique and ensure proper handling of instruments and specimens 
  • Support surgical procedures by scrubbing, circulating, and assisting surgeons 
  • Document surgical procedures, instrument counts, and patient information
  • Assist with retina procedures, injections, and laser set-ups 

What We’re Looking For:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required 
  • Completion of the AAO Independent Study Course within the last 3 years 
  • Strong written/verbal communication and customer service skills 
  • Preferred: typing 35 WPM and strong computer proficiency
