Summary:

A Pre op/PACU nurse prepares patients for surgery by completing assessments, verifying medical history, and ensuring they are physically and emotionally ready for anesthesia. After surgery, they monitor patients as they wake from anesthesia, manage pain and vital signs, and watch closely for complications to ensure a safe recovery.

Type of Opportunity: Full time FTE: 1.00 Job Exempt: No Work Shift: Days (United States of America)

Responsibilities:

PACU/ Preop Nurses are expert communicators and collaborators. They work alongside the physician, other RNs, and medical staff, keeping them informed of any changing circumstances during the patient’s recovery. They are also responsible for communicating with the patient and their family on proper post-op care, such as when to take medications and what to do if they experience pain. 
 

Qualifications:

  • Associate Degree in Nursing

  • State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License

  • BLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire
