Job Summary:
The Accounting Manager is a senior-level, hands-on role responsible for both execution and oversight of accounting operations. This position ensures accurate, timely, and compliant financial information across all entities, with a strong focus on general ledger integrity, grant accounting, and financial reporting.
Job Duties:
- Maintain and oversee the general ledger and ensure accuracy of all financial dataÂ
- Lead monthly and year-end close processes including reconciliations and reportingÂ
- Review postings from AP, AR, payroll, and external systemsÂ
- Prepare and submit grant billing and reimbursement requestsÂ
- Assists with monthly financial statements, analysis, and budgets.Â
- Ensure timely and accurate financial data to support real-time decision-making in a deadline-driven environmentÂ
- Support grant reporting and ensure compliance with funding requirementsÂ
- Review cost allocation methodologies across programsÂ
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedulesÂ
- Own and validate cost allocation methodologies across programs and funding sources to ensure accuracy, consistency, and complianceÂ
- Develop custom financial reports, including drill-down and multi-segment reporting to support program and leadership needsÂ
- Lead audit preparation and support external auditorsÂ
- Prepare schedules for tax filingsÂ
- Identify and implement process improvements and internal controlsÂ
- Mentor and support accounting staffÂ
- Manage accruals including payroll, PTO, and benefits, along with depreciation, prepaids, and other balance sheet accountsÂ
- Assist with collections and cash applicationÂ
- Participate in cross-functional projectsÂ
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field requiredÂ
- CPA or professional certification preferredÂ
- 5–7 years of progressive accounting experienceÂ
- Minimum 2 years of nonprofit fund accounting experienceÂ
- Experience with multi-site or multi-entity organizations preferredÂ
- Experience with Federal and State funding and reporting strongly preferredÂ
- Strong knowledge of general ledger and financial reportingÂ
- Experience with grant accounting and reimbursement-based fundingÂ
- Advanced Excel skills and accounting software experience (Sage      Intacct preferred)Â
- Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skillsÂ
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlinesÂ

Work Environment:Â
Work is performed primarily in a professional remote office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level and standard lighting and temperature conditions. This position involves extended periods of computer-based work, including use of accounting software, spreadsheets, virtual meeting platforms, email, and other business systems.Â
The position requires regular collaboration with internal departments including Finance, Leadership, Human Resources, Program Operations, and affiliated entities, as well as occasional communication with external auditors, grant monitors, vendors, and financial partners.
This role requires the ability to work independently in a remote setting while maintaining productivity, responsiveness, and effective communication with team members across multiple locations. Occasional travel to office locations or meetings may be required based on business needs.
