In this mission-driven position, you’ll lead the development and delivery of high‑quality childcare programs and a vibrant, year‑round camp experience. You’ll guide, support, and inspire teams; ensuring programs are not only well‑run but nurturing, enriching, and aligned with the core values of the Sonoma County Family YMCA.

This full-time, exempt leadership role offers flexibility—and requires it. Your schedule may include early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends based on operational needs. Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Staff Development

  • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate program staff and volunteers.
  • Build high-performing teams through coaching, motivation, and accountability.
  • Serve as part of the YMCA Management Team and Manager on Duty as assigned.

Program & Operational Management

  • Lead development, delivery, and evaluation of childcare and camp programs.
  • Maintain compliance with YMCA policies, licensing standards, and safety requirements.
  • Partner with schools, community agencies, and internal departments to support program success.
  • Conduct routine site visits to ensure program quality, cleanliness, and safety.

Strategic & Financial Oversight

  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, financial controls, and program outcomes.
  • Analyze data, systems, and processes to identify opportunities for growth and retention.
  • Support fundraising initiatives including the Annual Giving Campaign.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Coordinate registration, fee schedules, handbooks, and participant communications.
  • Respond effectively to inquiries, concerns, and emergency situations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2+ years of supervisory experience in youth programs, childcare, camp, or related fields.
  • Strong communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to variable hours including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
  • DOJ & FBI fingerprint clearance required which includes sex offender screening.
  • Proficient with Windows-based programs and technology systems.
