Electrician – Mechanic
Position Summary
The Electrician – Mechanic installs, modifies, and repairs electrical systems, equipment, and materials on commercial construction projects. This position works under the direction of a supervisor and may oversee an Electrician Helper.
Responsibilities
- Install conduit, wiring, panels, light fixtures, devices, equipment, and prefabricated assemblies according to plans and instructions.
- Read blueprints, diagrams, and schematics to complete installations accurately.
- Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble, and install conduit.
- Pull, splice, terminate, and connect wiring to electrical equipment and devices.
- Test circuits and installed systems for proper operation and safety.
- Identify and assist with troubleshooting or repairing faulty electrical systems.
- Coordinate electrical installations with other trades.
- Gather the tools and materials needed to complete assigned work efficiently.
- Direct Electrician Helpers to ensure work is completed safely and correctly.
- Minimize material waste and complete required paperwork.
- Follow Clark Electric and OSHA safety requirements.
Qualifications
- Commercial electrical construction experience preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, manuals, and written instructions.
- Knowledge of electrical tools, equipment, materials, and installation methods.
- Ability to bend conduit and safely operate hand tools, power tools, lifts, trenchers, and related equipment.
- Ability to identify wire colors accurately.
- Ability to follow safe work procedures around energized circuits and equipment.
- Ability to supervise and provide direction to Electrician Helpers.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and frequently carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, crawl, climb, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
- Ability to climb ladders and operate mechanical lifts.
- Ability to perform overhead work for extended periods.
- Adequate vision and hearing, with or without correction.
