Overview:

The Director of Regulatory Affairs provides strategic leadership and oversight for all food safety regulatory compliance and policy matters within the company. This role ensures that all products, labeling, claims, and manufacturing processes adhere to applicable food safety and regulatory requirements. The Director will serve as the primary liaison with regulatory authorities and industry organizations while partnering cross-functionally to ensure all product innovations, market expansions, and risk management efforts comply with applicable regulatory requirements.

Job Description:

  • Develop, lead, and execute regulatory strategies to ensure compliance with USDA, FDA, other global, federal, and state regulatory standards, as needed.
  • Provide regulatory guidance and create company policies for the Food Safety, QA, and Operations staff involved with manufactured and co-manufactured products.
  • Provide expert guidance and create company policies on import and export regulations.
  • Monitor and interpret emerging regulatory changes, providing proactive guidance to senior leadership and functional teams.
  • Serve as primary company contact with government agencies, trade associations, and external stakeholders on regulatory food safety, nutrition, and labeling issues.
  • Provide expert guidance regarding regulatory requirements to the global Sales and Marketing departments on programs, campaigns, and procedures as they relate regulations, food safety and quality.
  • Provide support to the Legal department as needed on regulatory food safety issues.
  • Work with academic and industry food safety experts, as well as internal teams to drive improvements and innovation as it relates to food safety, nutrition, and labeling, consistent with regulatory requirements.
