OrthoNY is opening a brand-new, state-of-the-art Ambulatory Surgery Center in Wilton, NY and we're looking for a full-time Surgery Coordinator!
In this role, you'll be the welcoming face of our ASC, keeping the front desk running smoothly while supporting surgical scheduling, patient registration, and day-to-day administrative workflow. Position Summary
As the first impression of our practice, the Surgery Coordinator pleasantly and professionally greets all patients with a high level of positive customer service. This role requires excellent organizational and communication skills to support the overall workflow and efficiency of the practice.
Responsibilities:
- Greets patients promptly in a pleasant manner, obtains required information, documents, and signatures (demographic info, required referrals, insurance cards and photo ID) from patient and enters into practice management system. Builds patient charts;
- Performs check-in process to notify clinical staff patient is ready to be seen;
- Collects any patient payments and posts payments into the practice management system and issues receipt. Balances and closed journals daily;
- Answers all incoming lines and directs calls to the appropriate Departments.
- Schedules all patients for surgical procedures, including urgent cases, as needed;
- Ensures all needed parties have an up to-to-date schedule;
- Assist all co-workers with workflow, including filing;
- Sorts and reviews all incoming mail; ensures outgoing mail is handled in a timely manner;
- Other tasks and responsibilities as needed/assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required. College degree desired;
- One to three years of relevant work experience, preferably in a medical or healthcare setting;
- Experience with Surgical Scheduling preferred;
- Experience with billing and coding a plus;
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, electronic medical records and practice management systems desired;
- Ability to work in an independent and organized manner;
- Ability to build positive relationships and effectively communicate with all members of the healthcare team and patients including oral and written communication;
