Summary:

The Medicine Bow Creamery at Brush Creek Ranch is looking for an Creamery Assistant to be part of our farmstead goat cheese operation. Employees will be part of a small team assisting with all aspects of creamery management and cheesemaking. Employees will also help with dairy and animal chores as needed.

Compensation includes a bi-weekly salary; shared housing or monthly housing stipend; health, dental and vision insurance; end of season bonus; and meals. This great opportunity will provide you with training and education to execute all aspects of artisan cheese production and management with a hospitality focus.


Responsibilities


What You’ll Do:

Assist cheesemaker with all aspects of cheese making including weighing ingredients; testing and monitoring pH; cutting, stirring, hooping, draining, pressing, and salting curd.

Assist with affinage of cave-aged cheeses; washing, flipping, brushing, and monitoring.

Understand and follow SOP processes to maintain equipment and a clean working environment.

Ensure food safety and quality standards are met by following internal operations procedures, GMP’s and FDA/USDA rules and regulations.

Managing product and ingredient inventory

Complete cleaning records, lab records, and any other assigned documents

Lead guest experiences and tastings

Staffing creamery retail space as needed.

Assist with milking and dairy chores as needed.




Other Information

What You’ll Bring:

Lift 50 lbs.

Ability to stand for long periods of time – frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting.

Excellent communication

Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Interest in learning the art and science of cheesemaking.

Preferred candidates would have cheese making and/or food production experience and knowledge of food safety requirements.
