The primary purpose and function of the Area Chief of Staff is to lead, develop and manage associate veterinarians in their hospitals to ensure Banfield can attract, develop, engage and retain doctors that will deliver quality care and meet expected hospital performance measures. This position drives the culture and delivery of quality care by the veterinary provider team (DVM, CVT, VA) in their assigned hospitals to ensure that every pet receives consistent care aligning with our six domains of quality (safe, effective, patient/client centered, timely, efficient and equitable care.) The Area Chief of Staff partners with the Practice Manager (if applicable) to drive the culture and delivery of quality care by the veterinary provider team (DVM, CVT, VA) in their assigned hospitals to ensure that every pet receives consistent care aligning with our six domains of quality(safe, effective, patient/client centered, timely, efficient and equitable care.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS include living and exemplifying the Five Principles of Mars, Inc., championing quality and safety culture, performing hospital visits and quality audits, developing and managing associate veterinarians, recruiting and onboarding new doctors, delivering on veterinary quality KPIs, clinical skill and leadership competency development, identifying and developing future veterinary talent, driving doctor engagement and retention, managing medical equipment inventory and maintenance, participating in veterinary organizations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and other assigned duties.The role requires leadership, conflict management, customer focus, team building, hiring and staffing, communication skills, and managing work. Candidates must have the ability to multi-task, organizational skills, surgical skills, problem solving, intellectual ability, mathematical ability, and computer skills. Attitudes required include initiative, integrity, cooperativeness, flexibility, independence, and tolerance for stress.Special working conditions include confidence around pets, ability to work more than 40 hours per week including weekends and evenings, exposure to noise and various hazards, physical requirements, and some travel.
