Job Summary

MacLean-Fogg is hiring a Tool Room Machinist for 2nd shift at our Savanna, Illinois manufacturing facility. In this role, you will set up and operate lathes, milling machines, and grinders to fabricate, assemble, and repair precision parts to blueprint specifications. This hands-on opportunity offers $22.00-$26.00 per hour, depending on experience, plus a $2.00 per hour shift premium.

• Work Arrangement: On-site

• Schedule: 2nd Shift, Monday-Friday, 2:30 PM-11:00 PM

• Pay: $22.00-$26.00/hour, depending on experience

• Other Compensation: $2.00/hour shift premium

What You'll Do as a Tool Room Machinist

• Operate lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other mechanical equipment to fabricate, assemble, and repair precision parts.

• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering specifications, and work instructions to meet required dimensions and tolerances.

• Set up, test, adjust, maintain, and service equipment for safe, efficient operation.

• Inspect your work and maintain high standards for precision and quality.

• Identify and report issues with machinery or parts so they can be resolved promptly.

• Follow all safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures.

• Help train and support less-experienced team members.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• At least one year of machining and blueprint-reading experience in a metal manufacturing environment.

• Practical knowledge of machining processes, including what it means to “make chips.”

• Ability to interpret and apply detailed work instructions, technical drawings, blueprints, and processes.

• Ability to take initiative, work independently, and complete tasks with limited supervision.

• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to quality.

• Ability to communicate effectively and build positive working relationships with team members and internal customers.

• Proficiency with computer systems and technical applications.

• A work history demonstrating reliability, consistent attendance, and punctuality.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role is performed in a metal manufacturing environment and involves hands-on work with lathes, milling machines, grinders, and other mechanical equipment. Employees must follow all safety, environmental, and quality procedures while setting up, operating, maintaining, and servicing machinery.
