Position Summary

The Chemical Distribution Quality Intern will support the Quality Assurance and Laboratory teams in maintaining product quality, safety, and compliance within a chemical and food-grade distribution environment. This internship provides hands-on experience in laboratory testing, quality assurance processes, food safety protocols, and root cause investigation. The intern will work closely with quality professionals to support testing activities and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with laboratory testing and quality control activities, including serving as backup support for ASI and QC testing processes.
  • Support root cause investigations related to quality deviations or nonconformances.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance tasks, including documentation review, process checks, and compliance verification.
  • Assist with initiatives related to food safety and food quality standards.
  • Utilize available tools, documentation, and resources to assist in problem-solving and quality improvement efforts.
  • Support laboratory operations, data collection, and reporting as needed.

Required Skills & Competencies

  • Foundational knowledge of quality principles in manufacturing and laboratory environments.
  • Basic laboratory experience, including familiarity with testing procedures and lab safety practices.
  • Ability to use provided resources and documentation to support problem solving.
  • Understanding of food safety principles and quality standards.
  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a quality team.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.

Learning Objectives

During the internship, the student will gain practical experience and understanding of:

  • Food Safety Protocols and compliance practices within a chemical and food-grade environment.
  • Laboratory support operations, including testing procedures and quality verification.
  • Quality Assurance processes, documentation, and compliance requirements.
  • Root cause analysis methods used to investigate quality issues and support corrective actions.

Education Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Food Science, Quality Assurance, or a related scientific field.
  • Junior or Senior standing preferred.
