About the role
Recess Hotel & Club in Savannah is seeking an experienced, hands-on Director of Housekeeping to build and lead the housekeeping operation for our upcoming opening.
This leader will establish standards, develop the team, prepare guestrooms and public spaces for opening, and ensure a consistently exceptional level of cleanliness and presentation. The ideal candidate brings strong luxury or full-service hotel experience, operational discipline, and a visible leadership style.
This is an onsite position located at Recess Hotel & Club in Savannah.
What you'll do
- Lead pre-opening and ongoing housekeeping operations for guestrooms, public areas, laundry, and uniforms
- Recruit, train, and develop housekeeping managers, supervisors, and team members
- Establish cleaning standards, inspection processes, productivity expectations, and operating procedures
- Oversee room readiness, quality assurance, labor planning, scheduling, inventory, and departmental expenses
- Partner with Front Office, Engineering, and other leaders to support smooth operations and guest satisfaction
- Maintain a hands-on presence while building a culture of accountability, recognition, and continuous improvement
- Resolve guest concerns and operational issues with urgency and professionalism
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of progressive housekeeping leadership experience in an upscale, luxury, resort, or full-service hotel
- Previous experience as a Director of Housekeeping, Executive Housekeeper, Assistant Director of Housekeeping, or similar leader
- Proven ability to lead large teams and develop managers and supervisors
- Strong knowledge of inspections, labor planning, scheduling, inventory, and departmental budgeting
- Pre-opening or hotel opening experience strongly preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business needs
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to bend, reach, stoop, push, pull, and lift up to 50 pounds
