Help deliver one of Auckland's most significant construction projects while ensuring everyone goes home safe every day. 

We are seeking a Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Advisor to join our team on a major project at Auckland Airport. Working a dedicated night shift roster, you'll play a critical role in supporting site operations, driving a positive safety culture, and ensuring the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental performance are maintained.


About the role: 

  • Reporting to the Senior HSE Manager, you'll work closely with project leadership, site teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders to implement and maintain effective HSE systems across the project. You'll be a visible presence on site, providing practical advice, coaching, and support while helping the team continually improve safety performance.  
  • Engage in stakeholder interface between Southbase, Contractors, and Client. 
  • Supporting the implementation and maintenance of project Health, Safety and Environmental Plans, systems & records.
  • Managing permit-to-work processes and ensuring compliance. 
  • Conducting site inspections, inductions, ongoing HSE training, assurance activities, subcontractor audits, emergency preparedness activities and site drills. 
  • Investigating incidents and supporting corrective action implementation. 
  • Monitoring HSE performance and preparing reports for project leadership. 
  • Facilitating prestart, toolbox talks, and promoting proactive safety and guidance to project teams on HSE responsibilities. 



You will have:

  • You are a proactive and solutions-focused professional who enjoys building strong relationships and influencing positive behaviours across construction environments. 
  • A minimum of 3 years' HSE experience within the construction industry. 
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and industry best practice. 
  • Experience undertaking inspections, audits, and incident investigations. 
  • The ability to deliver effective training, coaching, and mentoring. 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills including experience working with subcontractors and project delivery teams. 
  • A relevant Health & Safety qualification, Environmental qualification, or similar industry-recognised certification.
