Position Summary

The E&I Technician is responsible for installing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and instrumentation systems that support industrial food‑grade processing equipment. This role plays an essential part in maintaining production reliability, product quality, and workplace safety.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

(All duties can be performed with reasonable accommodation)

  • Apply electrical and mechanical principles to diagnose and resolve equipment issues
  • Install, start up, and shut down equipment following company and OSHA/NFPA 70E safety procedures
  • Maintain performance and maintenance documentation
  • Troubleshoot and repair PLC, DCS, and control systems
  • Conduct testing using appropriate calibration and diagnostic tools
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
  • Repair and maintain VFDs, motor starters, and control circuits
  • Follow blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
  • Provide input on efficiency improvements and equipment usage
  • Participate in root-cause analysis
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures, including PPE and Lockout/Tagout
  • Utilize test equipment such as HART communicators, calibrators, multimeters, etc.
  • Support after‑hours on‑call rotations
  • Use basic SAP functions and Microsoft Office applications

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • 2‑year technical degree, accredited apprenticeship, or equivalent technical training
  • 5–7 years of experience in electrical, mechanical, instrumentation, and pneumatic systems
  • Experience troubleshooting PLCs and reading ladder logic

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to read electrical drawings and perform calculations
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of instrumentation, controls, and diagnostic tools

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, climb, kneel, or crawl as required
  • Ability to lift/move 50–60 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to distinguish temperature differences and read gauges and indicators

Work Environment

  • Primarily day shift: future shift work may be possible
  • Exposure to mechanical equipment, elevated work areas, noise, dust, temperature variation, and industrial environments
