General Maintenance Worker
Home Store: Savannah, GA
Travel Required: Yes – local travel between J.C. Lewis locations in the area.
Position Overview
J.C. Lewis is seeking a reliable and skilled General Maintenance team member to ensure the upkeep, safety, and functionality of our facilities and properties. This individual will handle a wide range of maintenance tasks—including light construction, electrical work, plumbing repairs, and troubleshooting—as well as assist with projects across all dealership and non-dealership J.C. Lewis properties.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and able to manage time efficiently while responding promptly to maintenance needs.
Key Responsibilities
Perform general maintenance to ensure facilities remain safe, clean, and fully functional.
Complete light construction projects such as repairing structures, installing fixtures, or minor carpentry tasks.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues, including lighting, outlets, and switches.
Address plumbing needs, such as repairing leaks, unclogging drains, and fixing fixtures.
Accurately track maintenance activities, inspections, and completed work.
Follow all safety procedures and regulations when using tools and equipment.
Work independently and collaboratively with supervisors and team members to complete projects on time.
Provide support at other J.C. Lewis locations and properties as needed.
Qualifications
General maintenance experience required; experience with light construction, basic electrical, and basic plumbing is a plus.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Must be 19 years of age or older
Physical Demands
Lift and carry up to 50 lbs. of equipment and materials.
Stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
Work in a variety of weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, humidity).
Access confined spaces as needed for maintenance tasks.
Use tools and equipment requiring manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Maintain visual and auditory acuity for inspections, communication, and safety awareness.
Work Environment
Work will take place both indoors (offices, shops, maintenance areas) and outdoors in varying conditions.
Exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, and other maintenance-related hazards is possible.
May work independently or as part of a team, occasionally interacting with tenants, residents, or customers.
Proper PPE and adherence to safety protocols are required.
