Savannah Christian Preparatory School, a prominent school in Savannah, Georgia with a rich history and known for its strong liberal arts curriculum, seeks faculty for the upcoming academic year. The candidates for this position will be carefully and prayerfully evaluated according to the following essential criteria:聽

The STEM teacher oversees the Middle School STEM program (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math). While creating a vibrant and exciting environment for our students to learn, the STEM teacher will simultaneously take the lead in exploring emerging technologies, instructional theories, and innovative approaches to empower student learning and creativity. Savannah Christian is committed to Christ-centered, quality education and academic excellence.


Essential job functions will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Teaches classes that promote group collaboration through project-based learning methods around Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math.
  • Creates a fun, safe, and engaging environment for students.
  • Manages STEM budget and inventory of materials and consumables; organizes project storage space; maintains an organized STEM space.
  • Manages STEM calendar and STEM equipment use.
  • Brainstorms project design ideas with students and trains students on safe use of STEM equipment.聽
  • Plans and instructs Middle School STEM classes.

Responsibilities:

  • Curriculum development. Create lesson plans aligned with applicable standards and student needs, incorporating diverse teaching methods and activities to cater to different learning styles.
  • Instructional delivery. Teach concepts clearly and effectively, utilizing visual aids, technology, and real-world applications to enhance understanding.
  • Student assessment. Regularly monitor student progress through quizzes, tests, projects, and class participation to identify strengths and areas needing additional support.
  • Individualized learning. Provide differentiated instruction to address the diverse needs of students, offering extra help or enrichment activities as required.
  • Classroom management. Maintain a positive and structured learning environment, promoting active participation and student engagement.
  • Communication: Regularly communicate with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student performance, progress, and any concerns.
  • Professional development. Actively participate in professional development opportunities to stay updated on current teaching strategies and best practices.

Requirements

Education: 聽A bachelor鈥檚 degree in the appropriate subject is required at a minimum; a master鈥檚 degree is preferred. Formal classroom teaching experience preferred.
