Roadway Testing Technician —Savannah, GA
TTL is searching for a Roadway Testing Technician based in Savannah, GA. This role will assist with construction materials testing and highway inspections to verify compliance with project plans and specifications in accordance with GDOT, AASHTO and ASTM standards. This position will include documenting test results, inspections and field observations and communicating findings to contractors, engineers and project managers.Â

What You'll Do
- Conduct field density testing on soil, aggregate base and asphalt using nuclear gauge methods
- Perform proof rolling, subgrade verification and construction material sampling while reviewing project plans and specifications to ensure testing meets project requirements
- Maintain and calibrate field testing equipment and ensure all testing and field activities comply with project specifications, applicable codes and safety protocols
- Support construction materials testing and assist other field technicians with testing inspections and project needs as required
Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma or GED required
- 1-2 years of construction materials testing or roadway inspectionÂ
- Ability to communicate professionally orally and in writing
- Ability to read and interpret technical plans and specifications
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record
- Possess sufficient stamina to work in outdoor (hot & cold) environment
- This position requires working outside year-round.
- Project schedules often dictate working hours. Â Therefore, the candidate should understand that work schedules will vary (early mornings, late evenings) and will be hectic at times. Â Some weekend work may be required.
- Roundtrip travel to jobsites will be required (typically less than 100 miles); however, opportunities for out-of-town work (regional) may be necessary to support other TTL offices.
Preferred Certifications
- GDOT Roadway Testing Technician (RTT) certification
- GDOT Quality Control Technician (QCT) certification
- GDOT Concrete Testing Technician certification
- Additional certifications (NICET, ACI, etc.) a plus
