Job DetailsJob Location: Savannah, GA 31406Position Type: Full TimeEducation Level: High School / GEDSalary Range: $20.00 - $20.00 HourlyJob Shift: MorningJob Summary:  Under general supervision of the Milieu Director, of the BHCC, this position provides security measures during voluntary and involuntary admission to the Behavioral Health Crisis Center; Ensures safety of patients and staff; Accompanies staff during transport of patients; Monitors visitations to ensure safety of patients, staff and visitors; Assists in conducting room searches; Conducts floor and campus patrol; Checks buildings for unlocked doors/windows, destruction of state property, hazardous objects; Maintains shift logs and prepares incidents; Monitors weather conditions and ensures the safety of patients and staff; Assists nursing and clinical staff in day to day routine duties; Serves as backup for Clerk, CPS and CCS. Patrols assigned areas to detect and prevent crime; responds to emergency situations. Conducts or assists in conducting investigations involving incidents in the facility. Operates and inspects vehicles in the performance of routine and specialized duties Prepares and submits completed reports of incidents to the appropriate officials. Continues training and professional development. Maintain a consistent, high quality, customer-focused orientation when conducting business and providing services or products to clients, the general public and other external customers. Interacts with all levels of personnel in a way that promotes respect, encourages cooperation and contributes to excellent performance. Conducts fire drills and fire extinguisher inspections as assigned. Performs work according to all rules, regulations, policies and guidelines of the agency. Observes agency policies on health, safety, security and sanitation; notifies supervisor of circumstances or situations that present health hazards. Does not use or knowingly permit others to use agency property for personal business. Maintains a valid GA driver’s license. Transportation / Operational Expectations Security staff will assist with transportation duties only when operationally appropriate and staffing permits. Security staff will not transport guests out of town unless specifically approved by the Milieu Director or Program Manager due to the need for continuous on-site coverage at the BHCC. Due to the high volume of walk-ins, 1013s, OTA admissions, security personnel are expected to remain readily available within the facility to support daily operations and crisis response. Security personnel are expected to contribute to the daily operations of the BHCC by assisting with safety monitoring, guest movement, de-escalation support, and operational coverage throughout the facility. Staff are expected to comply with assigned operational responsibilities and directives related to security coverage and unit support. Failure to comply with assigned duties may result in corrective action in accordance with agency policy. Security staff will work collaboratively with nursing leadership, CPS staff, CCS staff, and administration to ensure compliance, safety, and smooth daily operations throughout the BHCC. CCS / Security Support Security staff may be utilized to assist the CCS department as needed to support overall unit operations and maintain workflow efficiency. QualificationsRequired Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED; Knowledge of law enforcement and security principles and procedures; Prior experience as a security officer; Valid driver’s license; Clear and concise communication skills; Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time; at least 3 years’ experience in a hospital or correctional setting. Required Knowledge & Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of PC-based software applications.  Knowledge of DBHDD provider service guidelines and changes as needed. Ability to prioritize time and resources among primary projects of responsibilities. Ability to remain solution focused in every situation. Ability to adapt to changing environments. Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop.  Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Must have the ability to sit for long periods of time at a computer.  Employee frequently uses fine hand/eye coordination, hearing and visual acuity.  Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are not hazardous or unpleasant condition caused by noise, dust, etc. Employee must be able to physically intervene as needed to assist staff with behavioral issues.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
