POSITION SUMMARY:

The 21st Century Nutritionist is responsible for the daily planning and preparation of meals for the 21st Century CLC Site assigned.

 

In addition, every position in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc. is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Plan all meals, including breakfast, lunch and snack according to state nutritional guidelines and within budgetary guidelines.
  2. Provide a wide variety of meals and snacks that appeal to the program participants.
  3. Provide for proper storage and maintenance of food items.
  4. Provide and post a weekly menu of the meals for the center.
  5. Properly maintain and clean the kitchen to insure proper food preparation.
  6. Weekly purchase of food and supply items from local vendors as needed.
  7. Record and report meals according to CACFP and SNAP reports to each agency as per their requirements.
  8. Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, parents, and children

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  2. Sound working knowledge of food preparation and meal planning.
  3. Ability to accurately record and report meal counts as required by various agencies.
  4. Foster positive staff, parent, and child relations.
  5. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

The 21st CCLC Nutritionist is funded entirely through the 21st CCLC Grant funds and the position is contingent upon availability of grant funds. The salary has a maximum cap based on grant funding. The position is funded for 149 days for two and half hours daily for Elementary Schools and 120 hours and three hours for Middle and High Schools after school per day; and, in addition, four hours per month on weekends, and five and one-half hours per day for ten or twenty days during the summer depending on the level (Elementary or Secondary) based on schedule availability. Up to 30 additional hours can be required for professional learning activities and to meet evaluative criteria.
