Gaven Industries manufacturers highly engineered systems for electromagnetic pulse shielding.   Our diverse customer base is spread across multiple agencies at 1000’s of customers worldwide.  We are looking for experienced GTAW Welder/Fabricators to join our team.  

The GTAW Welder/Fabricator will be responsible for the welding of various metal components and products as specified by layout, welding diagram, drawings or work order utilizing knowledge of MIG and TIG welding on steel, aluminum, stainless steel, and other metal materials. This role also inspects completed work for conformance to specifications and performs minor maintenance to equipment. Occasional travel to customer and other sites may be required periodically under special circumstances but not on a regular basis.

Responsibilities:

  • Weld components in the flat, vertical or overhead positions
  • Perform a series of progressive welding operations to drawing tolerances and specifications
  • Read and understand detailed drawings for weldments, including solid comprehension and interpretation of weld symbols and complete work to customer requirements and specifications
  • Examines weld after, and repairs cracks and fills holes
  • Perform grinding as necessary to support welding process: welding, welding repair or clean-up
  • May use torch for metal cutting
  • Communicate effectively with fellow operators, supervisors, engineers and management personnel Work with other team members to develop fixturing, process drawings, and tooling requirements
  • Examine and inspect the first article produced to ensure conformance
  • Process and complete all required QC documentation and records
  • Responsible for maintaining the integrity of welding equipment, fixtures and tooling
  • Keep all work areas clean, organized and safe
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Ability to perform in process measurements and record data accurately
  • Able to properly use and read tape measures and other measuring devices to monitor performance and inspection of parts
  • Possess solid math skills, good mechanical problem-solving skills, and attention to detail
  • Able to perform physically demanding work: standing, bending, and lifting 50 lbs. regularly

Education / Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Experience with AWS D1.1 welding procedures required
  • GTAW/TIG welding experience required
  • 2 or more years of experience performing responsibilities similar to those described above.
