About the Role:

Service Shipping Inc. is looking for a detail-oriented Import Entry Writer to join our team in Schaumburg, IL. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in international trade operations, ensuring seamless customs clearance and compliance for our clients. Responsibilities:

Prepare and submit accurate import entry filings with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
Classify imported goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) to determine correct duty rates
Review commercial invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, and other shipping documents for accuracy
Communicate with importers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to resolve entry discrepancies
Ensure compliance with all import regulations, trade agreements, and CBP requirements
Monitor shipment statuses and coordinate timely customs clearance to avoid delays or penalties
Maintain organized records of import entries and supporting documentation for audit purposes

Requirements:

1-3 years of experience in import entry writing, customs brokerage, or freight forwarding
Working knowledge of HTS classification, CBP regulations, and import compliance
Familiarity with Automated Broker Interface (ABI) or customs entry software
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple shipments simultaneously
Excellent communication skills for coordinating with clients, carriers, and government agencies
Customs Broker License (CHB) is a plus but not required
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with logistics or trade management systems preferred
