Position Description
Title: Quality Control Specialist
Department: Operations
Immediate Supervisor: Manufacturing Supervisor
Status: Non-Exempt, Hourly-Professional
Principle Accountabilities
· Coordinates, maintains, and expedites the flow of materials, parts, and assemblies within or between all departments of industrial plant to ensure smooth production operations and customer satisfaction
· Review production schedule to confirm priorities and determine material requirements.
· Performs analyses and tests of raw materials, and/or finished products from manufacturing, to ensure quality standards and compliance to engineering drawings, and tolerance specifications are met.
· Communicate about quality with supervisors, managers, and engineers verbally and through written documents following proper processes
· Evaluate and enter material allocations, identify status of work orders, and requisition material according to job priorities and material availability.
· Communicate material priorities to stockroom as necessary and work closely with logistics personnel to ensure uninterrupted flow of materials.
· Assist in managing the shortest possible material kitting time using configuration, material transfers, substitutions and other alternate solutions.
· Examine material to verify conformance to specifications.
· Verify material and documentation of all work orders both before acceptance and release of material to production.
· Move or transport material from one department to another.
· Support material requirements of technicians, mechanics, and test cell operators in assigned area of responsibility.
· Maintain records of status and location of material and work orders while positioned in assigned work area.
· Assist in the construction and execution of the monthly schedule in assigned work area.
· Contribute to daily kitting meetings by discussing last minute items with internal suppliers to ensure ability to kit.
· Confer with production personnel to resolve problems affecting production schedules.
· Propose changes to the process and procedures to improve efficiencies, on-time delivery performance, and customer satisfaction (both internal and external).
Essential Skills and Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- 3+ years in manufacturing environment preferred.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail
- Exposure to technical drawings, inspection or measurement advantageous but not essential
- Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Experience with an ERP System preferred.
- Must have good math and counting skills
Physical Requirements
- The employee may be required to stand, walk, push, pull, reach overhead, and bend to the floor.
- Able to stand and bend for long periods of time in a warehouse environment.
- Exert up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or exert up to 10 pounds of force frequently.
- Visual Acuity – Normal requirements for reading written instructions and computer screens
- Hearing Ability – Normal requirements for understanding verbal instructions.
- Working Conditions – The employee is subject to a normal office environment with occasional exposure to high noise levels and/or physical hazards when visiting manufacturing floor.
- Capable of wearing appropriate related PPE for extended periods of time.
