HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO:

We are looking for a Senior Java Backend Developer (10+ years of experience). The role focuses on Java backend development, identity integration, and cloud-based services, working within a modern Java and Azure ecosystem. The developer will work primarily on backend services, authentication integrations, and event-driven architecture, while collaborating with frontend developers.

• Design, develop, and maintain Java-based backend applications and services

• Implement and maintain authentication and identity integrations (Okta, LDAP)

• Develop APIs and backend services supporting enterprise web applications

• Work with event-driven and messaging architecture

• Integrate with Azure cloud services

• Maintain secure access to services using Key Vault / secrets management

• Collaborate with frontend teams (JavaScript-based applications)

• Support enhancements, bug fixes, and ongoing maintenance of existing systems

• Ensure performance, scalability, and security of backend services
  

REQUIREMENTS:

Core Backend

• Strong experience in Java backend development (Spring / Spring Boot preferred)

• Experience building REST APIs and microservices

Identity & Security

• Experience integrating Okta or other Identity Providers

• Knowledge of LDAP / authentication mechanisms

Cloud & Infrastructure

• Experience working with Microsoft Azure services

• Knowledge of Azure Event Grid / messaging / queues

• Experience using Azure Key Vault or similar secrets management tools

Programming & Scripting

• Java (Primary)

• Python (supporting scripts / automation)

Integration / Architecture

• Messaging systems and event-driven architecture

• API integrations with enterprise systems

Nice to Have

• Basic exposure to JavaScript frontend environments

• Limited familiarity with PHP systems (legacy integration)

• Experience working in enterprise marketing/advertising technology platforms

Experience

• 10+ years overall experience

• Strong enterprise Java backend development background

Soft Skills

• Ability to work in client-facing environments

• Strong collaboration with cross-functional teams

• Experience supporting production enterprise systems

LOCATION: Onsite at our offices in Chicago or Seattle, or remote

• A competitive pay range of $65-70/hr (depending on experience).
