Job Position: Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)

Location: Schaumburg, IL 60194

Pay Rate: Starting at $35/hour

Shift: Full-time or part time; elementary caseload

Description: In cooperation with and/or under the supervision of the Occupational Therapist will exercise a high degree of initiative, responsibility and independent action in planning and carrying out programs for students.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Select activities which meet students' needs and interests.

  • Utilize and reinforce strengths and skills to maintain and/or improve functions.

  • Use group and/or interpersonal skills to facilitate and sustain appropriate participation in an educational setting to effect positive change.

  • Maintain records, measures change and development, and contributes observations to be included in evaluation reports and/or progress notes for each student on caseload.

  • Assist in administering standard evaluation or screening procedures.

  • Assist with identifying learning needs.

  • May attend parent conferences/staffings of students on caseload.

  • Assist in maintaining orderliness, cleanliness and safety of the treatment area.

  • Assist with special projects as directed by the building principal and/or Occupational Therapist.

Requirements:

  • Must be a graduate of an approved Occupational Therapy Assistant training program.

  • Must be certified by, or eligible for certification by, the Board of Registry of the American Occupational Therapy Association (COTA) State of Illinois Occupational Therapist License.

  • Pediatric or school-based experience preferred.
