General Purpose

Ensure adequate inventory of materials and supplies at the plant directly or through others to include Purchase for Resale (PFR) products. Manage inventories of goods and supplies to ensure plant maintains adequate supply without carrying excessive inventories. Work with plant management to ensure all items are ordered from approved suppliers and meet all DFA specifications and QA requirements.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Order and receive all incoming raw materials, packaging materials, supplies and other items as needed
  • Maintain adequate inventories of materials and supplies by developing and using a solid working understanding of plant operational requirements and supplier lead times
  • Perform activities that determine quatinties of and delivery schedules of materials
  • Ensure and oversee accurate counting and reporting of receipts and inventories into the proper systems
  • Complete company standard PO’s for all purchases and approve invoices for payment, verifying information
  • Follow up with suppliers to ensure on time deliveries. Provide information to management of any issues
  • Manage local supplier relationships to ensure that supplier expectations are understood and performance against those expectations are measured and monitored on regular basis
  • Provide for the management and ordering of PFR items
  • Identify plant level supply requirements and provide input to the Procurement Group for prioritization and sourcing actions
  • Implement best practices as appropriate
  • Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with all state and federal regulations regarding health and safety issues
  • Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree (or equivalent combination of experience and education)
  • 2 to 5 years inventory, materials planning, or related experience
  • Certification and/or License – may be required during course of employment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems
  • Able to communicate with various levels of personnel to ensure customers’ needs and requirements are met
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team
