The Mill Wharf Restaurant (est.1984) is a long-standing New England dining destination known for its panoramic waterfront views, classic American and seafood dishes, and its setting on the historic site of the town’s original mill. For four decades it has been a favorite for both locals and visitors looking to enjoy scenic dining and relaxed coastal atmosphere.

  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greet guests promptly and professionally upon arrival.
  • Ensure Takeout orders are given to right guest while still maintaining the Bar
  • Verify guests purchasing alcohol are at least 21 years of age.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of bar and menu items to provide accurate recommendations.
  • Accurately take food and beverage orders for bar and lounge guests.
  • Deliver food and beverage orders within established time frames for both service bar and customers at bar. 
  • Ability to work both bars upstairs in the pub and downstairs in the dining room 
  • Utilize suggestive selling techniques to enhance the guest experience.
  • Ensure alcohol consumption is limited to designated areas.
  • Build and maintain a professional, hospitable rapport with every guest served.
  • Complete opening, running, and closing side work assignments.
  • Collaborate effectively as a team member to support smooth operations.
  • Attend ongoing training sessions and participate in pre-shift meetings.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and service standards.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • TIPS Certification 
  • Minimum age of 18 and authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to obtain any required licenses or permits.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience operating a full-service bar.
  • Strong knowledge of mixology, drink menus, and classic cocktail preparation.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-paced environment involving stairs. 
  • Ability to interact with guests and be social with them.
  • Flexible availability, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Excellent customer service and professional guest interaction skills.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and accurate math/cash-handling abilities.
