Description

Our customer, the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA), provides, operates, and assures command and control of the Defense Information System Network (DISN) services to its customers, the department of Defense (DoD) and national security organizations. This position directly supports the DISA-provided capabilities and services.

The Leidos Digital Modernization Sector/Global Solutions Management-Operations II (GSMO-II) contract has an opening for a Network Engineer at Scott AFB, IL.  The Network Engineer will perform  sustainment, performance, maintenance, Problem and Change management services to help ensure secure, reliable, and uninterrupted availability of the Department of Defense networks.

This position requires U.S. citizenship and an active Secret clearance to start.

Primary Responsibilities:

Responsible for performing and training team on the following duties:

  • Perform engineering tasks related to the design, performance management/analysis, implementation, and integration of network changes and sustainment of customer systems in an Wide Area Network environment.

  • Provide ad-hoc engineering support, statistics/data gathering, modeling, creating/updating flowcharts and providing forecasts based on trending analysis  based on Engineering documents and experience.

  • Develop technical solutions that require collaboration with data engineers and subject matter experts, deep analyses of  quality control of data, data collection processes, and testing/implementation data collection and understand the impact on end-product/solutions.

  • Conduct planning and performance of analytical research, design development, and other tasks to align with customer specifications.

  • Collaborate with team members, Engineers, and subject matter experts to support GSMO Program driven Innovations development, integration, and continuous improvement by leveraging, maintaining, and in the creation/maintenance of various tools.

  • Collaborate with Engineers and subject matter experts to make process improvements recommendations.

  • Control network systems & tools to ensure 99% or better system uptime and connectivity.

  • Ensure efficient delivery of contract capabilities using industry standards and repeatable processes.

  • Mitigate risks, control costs and schedule variance, and effectively manage large scale, integrated projects.

  • Perform a variety of analytical tasks which include hardware and software design and implementation.

  • Develop, Maintain, deploy, and troubleshoot databases and data ingestion scripts.

  • Provide mentorship and act as a technical resource for lower-level network engineers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently possess DoD 8750 certification at IAT level II, Security+ CE or equivalent to meet requirement.

  • Experience monitoring, troubleshooting, and/or configuring IP or Transport Network technologies.

  • Experience with Kibana, Service Now,  SQL, Web development, Python, UI UX, or Databases.

  • Experience working with large sets of data from either service provider or enterprise networks.

  • Experience with ports and protocols.

  • Experience analyzing network KPIs, VLAN, routing, IP addressing and sub-netting and/or Exposure to troubleshooting, assessment, root cause analysis, and restoration of Optical networks

  • Experience with IP or Transport Technology.

  • Currently possess an active DoD Secret security clearance.

  • Proficiency with coding in languages including but not limited to Expect, Python, SQL, and/or Perl.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarization of DOD regulations and directives.

  • Experience with Service Now and/or Kibana is a plus

  • Physical cable plant and wiring experience.

  • Certifications with major vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, Elastic, ServiceNow, or ITIL4  are a strong plus.

  • Excellent project, technical, interpersonal, presentation, Performance analytics,  and problem management skills.

  • Extensive network integration experience for a variety of network protocol standards.

  • Ability to communicate orally, and in writing, detailed technical information on troubleshooting and implementation efforts.

  • ServiceNow, Elastic/Kibana, NorthStar, or SQL server testing, troubleshooting, and deployment experience is a strong plus.

  • Experience with Cisco IOS XR, JUNOS, and Cisco IOS codes.

  • IPSEC configuration, troubleshooting, and design experience.

  • MPLS configuration, troubleshooting, and design experience.

  • CIENA 6500 configuration, troubleshooting, and design experience.

  • CISCO 4200 configuration, troubleshooting, and design experience.

  • CISCO NCS2K configuration, troubleshooting, and design experience.

  • Proficient in Ciena,  Cisco, and/or Juniper configuration, troubleshooting, and design.

  • High proficiency with Python, Pearl or other language scripting capable of pulling information from Cisco/Juniper routers and other network devices.

Required Edcation & Experience:

  • Requires BS and 4-8 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience.  Specific experience, education and training may be considered in lieu of degree.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $73,450.00 - $132,775.00
