Position Overview
The Sr. PostgreSQL DBA owns the TRDM database estate on AWS GovCloud — primary and alternate sites, plus TEST/DEV. Hands-on responsibility for backup/recovery, replication, performance, security control evidence in eMASS, and the annual scheduled failover exercise.Key Responsibilities
- Administer PostgreSQL / Aurora across primary, alternate, and TEST/DEV environments
- Monitor performance, identify and resolve bottlenecks proactively
- Apply quarterly database patches in accordance with DoD STIGs
- Maintain backup and recovery procedures
- Monitor replication between primary and alternate sites
- Support annual scheduled failover exercise; produce Contingency Exercise Report
- Maintain database security controls and produce eMASS evidence
- Maintain database documentation (TTPs) in configuration management
Required Qualifications
- Active SECRET clearance
- US Citizen
- Bachelor's degree
- PostgreSQL certification
- DoD 8570 IAT-II (Security+ CE or equivalent)
- 8+ years database administration
- 3+ years PostgreSQL at production scale
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certified Data Engineer
- Aurora/RDS experience
- DoD STIG database experience
- Prior Oracle background (legacy familiarity helpful)
