At Joby, we've been working to make that dream a reality since 2009 and we're now in the final stages of certifying our aircraft with the FAA. With plans to launch our aircraft in the US and Dubai, we're now scaling manufacturing and preparing for the launch of our commercial service.

Overview

Joby Aviation is looking for a Cook based out of Santa Cruz, CA. You will be a valued team member helping to provide a great experience for our staff members. We are a small team, and everyone helps out in all tasks including prepping, cooking and cleaning.

Responsibilities

• Food Preparation & Cooking: Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, chopping, and portioning. Cook food using various methods such as grilling, frying, and sautéing, ensuring each dish is prepared to the highest quality.

• Kitchen Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, following all sanitation and safety procedures. This includes properly storing all food and equipment.

• Dishwashing & Storage: Assist with washing dishes, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment. Store all clean items correctly to ensure they are ready for use.

• Quality Control: Check the quality of all ingredients before use and ensure all dishes are well-presented before they are served.

Required

• Experience & Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, along with 2-4 years of experience in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

• Skills & Knowledge: You should be proficient in using a variety of kitchen tools and equipment, including cutting tools, cookware, and bakeware. A strong knowledge of different cooking procedures (e.g., grilling, baking, boiling) is essential.

• Teamwork & Communication: You must be a strong team player with excellent communication skills. You thrive in a collaborative environment and understand that success is a team effort. You enjoy being part of something bigger than yourself and work toward a common goal.

• Commitment to Quality & Safety: A keen eye for detail and a strict adherence to all sanitation rules and procedures are required.

• Availability: Must be able to work flexible shifts, including weekends and evenings.

Desired

• Culinary Education: A diploma or degree from a recognized culinary school is a strong plus.

Additional Information

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $23-$30/hr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
