Job Description:

The primary purpose of the Petroleum Transport Driver (PTD) is to load, unload and deliver petroleum products to company owned sites/customers in a safe, efficient and professional manner. The PTD will be responsible for driving to and from designated locations, verifying loads to shipping papers and maintaining record of duty status according to state and federal regulations. Performs pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with company policy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Drives company truck to/from destinations to transport fuel and complies with the proper methods of loading and unloading.
  • Remains by the vehicle during all active loading and unloading.
  • Uses hazard lamps and safety cones, turns vehicle engine off and no idling during all active loading and unloading.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Maintains vehicle in DOT compliant specifications and performs and/or schedules to perform all routine and preventive maintenance on vehicle.
  • Understands and complies with all applicable federal, state, local and company rules and regulations that are in accordance with the accepted principals of the safe operation of a hazardous cargo tank motor vehicle.
  • Drives and delivers products during various types of weather, which may cause surfaces to be wet, slippery and/or involve temperature extremes.
  • Completes driver daily logs and all necessary delivery tickets, trip reports, fuel reports, damage reports and all paperwork required by company as instructed.
  • Reports to dispatcher at time specified and maintains contact with dispatch office.
  • Complies with all company safety and performance standards.
  • Reports all accidents immediately involving driver and/or company equipment regardless of the damage and fault.
  • Develops and maintains a professional and respectful relationship with company, colleagues and coworkers.
  • Other duties assigned as needed.

Requirements:

  • Must have a “Class A CDL” with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements.
  • Must have a clean driving record with a minimum two years of verifiable tractor-trailer experience.
  • Never had a DUI/DWI in commercial vehicle; will consider applicants who have had a DUI / DWI in personal vehicle more than 10 years prior.
  • Must be insurable.
  • Must meet all DOT requirements.
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs from ground to waist height.
  • Must have good communication skills, the ability to follow instructions and take directions in English language.
  • Be able to work any shifts on any day/s and ability to drive for up to 11 hours and work a total of 14 hours.
  • The ability to walk, bend, reach, push, stoop, squat and climb as necessary to perform vehicle inspections.
  • Requires normal range of hearing, vision and smell
