Position Summary:

Manages, develops, and provides 24 hr support for Port Houston terminal operating systems. Supports internal and external stakeholders with use of all terminal applications. Provides tools and training to develop Operations staff with increased knowledge of the terminal operating systems. Identify, test, configure and implement new technologies to enhance terminal operations.

 

Key Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Serve as Super User for software applications in use at Port Houston’s terminals including SPARCS N4, XPS, ECN4, N4 Mobile, Lynx Customer Portal, Lynx Mobile Application, Gate Operating System and Business Intelligence Tool
  • Serve as a technical resource on systems software and its effective application at Port Houston facilities
  • Provide statistical analysis of data from the N4 database; create, automate and schedule reports for external and internal stakeholders
  • Serve as the primary contact to Navis for software user issues, including preparing Navis cases, testing and acceptance of patches and new releases, and use of Navis support
  • Assist customers and staff with the use of Navis applications including development of training materials
  • Provide subject matter expertise and advice regarding technology solutions and terminal operating systems across other divisions/departments at Port Houston
  • Monitor and review system logs, detect and troubleshoot problems
  • Interface with IT department for overall Navis applications management
  • Maintain relationship with Navis (software provider) and other external sources as needed to ensure appropriate support to maximize software flexibility and uptime
  • Review new system releases and ensure stability for production environment and meet the needs of all Port Houston terminals
  • Identify new technologies and solutions to improve operational efficiencies, maximize growth opportunities and increase market share
  • Develop and support all Port Houston terminal technologies interfaced to Navis SPARCS N4 application
  • Support broad spectrum of stakeholders and works to increase transparency of shipments to stakeholders
  • Manage and maintain user access, privileges and roles within the terminal applications
  • Participate in vendor management and contract negotiations
  • Project/Budget Management of current and future technology
  • Act in accordance with Port Houston core values (respect, excellence, accountability, diligence, and you)
  • Perform all other duties as required

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Maritime Administration, Operations Management, Information Technology, or related major in a public or accredited private academic institution required
  • 5+ years related facilities technology experience required
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred

  • A current, valid Texas driver's license is required
  • A Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) must be obtained within 30 days of appointment, and be maintained for the duration of employment
