Position Summary

Responsible for providing Quality Assurance expertise, direction and support in the manufacture of new and existing products for Blencor. In the absence of the QA manager the QA Supervisor will fill in and assume all responsibilities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs and coordinates Quality Assurance activities within the company.
  • Facilitates identification of site-level KPIs 
  • Manage the Food Safety and Food Quality Programs including Quality and Food Safety training.
  • Leads on-going maintenance and improvement of plant’s quality and food safety systems.
  • Monitors and maintains micro testing and tracking programs.
  • Manages day-to-day activities of all Quality personnel within Plant Operations.
  • Handles traceability and performs mock trace through AX.
  • Supervises all materials receiving and shipping (COA and LOG).
  • Monitors and maintains:

- Audit Programs (Facility and 3rd Party)                                          - Customer Complaint investigation

- SQF documentation and verification & validation                   -Regulatory Compliance (USDA/FDA)

  • Leads preparation of responses and site-level follow up activities for all outside audits (Regulatory, Customer, Corporate, etc.) conducted within plant.
  • Identifies quality systems training needs for plant personnel and leads, facilitates/enables development and delivers/sources relevant training.
  • Manages facility Sanitation Program.
  • Handles Tech Supervision to include scheduling, training and accountability.
  • Provides Daily Documentation Review and Hold Log Management.
  • Manages and oversees Product Development through:

- Specification writing                                             - Nutritional Analysis

- Vendor communication/sourcing                   - Sample assembly

- Formula creation                                                   - Manage new product items into AX

- Manage formulas in AX

  • Oversees customer and sales’ sample preparation, shipment, specifications and plant trials.
  • Heads efforts in Process Control of process improvements, KPI tracking and trending, waste monitoring and reduction and lead associated activities toward resolution.
  • Provides day-to-day, hands-on technical support to Operations, Procurement and Warehousing functions, including problem-solving and trouble-shooting activities as they arise.
  • Comply with all Company food safety and quality policies and procedures
  • Performs other duties as assigned and the scope of the job may change as necessitated by business demands.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; talk or hear; and taste or smell.  The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds  
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Plant audits and inspections may require lifting of products up to 20 pounds.  Inspection often requires work in a production environment including work on a moving line, lifting cartons, and visual inspection.   Corrected vision required for sensory analysis to identify color, clarity.  Warehouse and plant audits also require close and distance vision to judge GMP’s; peripheral vision and depth perception mandatory for safety.
