SUMMARY:

Under general direction from the Gaming Machine Director or Designee, safeguards the assets of the casino by executing monetary transactions for guests in an accurate, professional, and courteous manner and in accordance with established policies, procedures, and gaming regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Will be responsible to watch, protect, handle, use, or maintain gaming cash and/ or gaming revenue. Gaming cash means money used in the operation of class II and Ill gaming. This includes cash deposited or withdrawal from gaming operation's cage or vault, in its kiosk and ATMs, gaming machines/system bill acceptors, drop boxes, change boxes, tip boxes, or other locations, containers, and devices used to store or retrieve cash used for the conduct of class II and Ill games or accounted for as a cash asset of the gaming operation.
  • Executes accurate monetary transactions for casino patrons in a prompt and courteous manner according to established policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Operates front cage window, including but not limited to items such as cashing patron tickets.
  • Maintains accuracy of the cashier drawer inventory, and jackpots.
  • Ensures appropriate documentation and signatures on all required transactions.
  • Maintains an accurate count of the persons interring the casino, jackpots.
  • Attends and participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings.
  • Assists patrons with general information upon request.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
  • Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Knowledge of accounting paperwork requirements.
  • Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation, and basic arithmetic.
  • Skill in operating software programs in a Windows environment.
  • Skill in analyzing problems, projecting consequences, identifying solutions, and implementing recommendations. Skill in operating 10 key, money counter and sort machine.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to analyze situations and adopt appropriate courses of action.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines.
  • Ability to make solid decisions and exercise independent judgment.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED plus one year cashiering experience preferably in a casino or banking environment.
  • Must be twenty-one (21) years of age. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. No felony, theft or stealing convictions.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen, background investigation, obtain and maintain gaming license.
  • Tribal preference.

TRIBAL PREFERENCE POLICY:

Members of the Jena Band of Choctaw Tribe shall be given absolute preference with respect to hiring, promotions, training, contracting, and separation from employment.  For persons who meet the minimum qualifications, preferential treatment shall be based on the following criteria and shall be given in the following order:

  • Enrolled members of the Jena Band of Choctaw tribe who satisfy the minimum job qualifications.
  • Spouses of enrolled Jena Band of Choctaw members who satisfy the minimum job qualifications.
  • Enrolled members of other recognized tribes who satisfy the minimum job qualifications.
  • Military Veterans.
  • All others who satisfy the minimum job qualifications.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Occasional work is performed in a casino setting with exposure to second-hand smoke and a moderate noise level. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
