Harborview Medical Center's Orthopedic Hand and Peripheral Nerve Clinic has an outstanding opportunity for a ARNP, Nurse Practitioner; or PA-C, Physician Assistant.


WORK SCHEDULE

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
Located in the Ninth & Jefferson building across from Harborview Medical Center, the Hand, Elbow & Shoulder Center treats complex injuries and musculoskeletal, peripheral nerve and skin conditions.

Our board-certified, experienced orthopedic and plastic surgeons, rehabilitation medicine physicians and physical and occupational therapists work hard to return patients to full function and to get you back to enjoying the activities you love.

PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Function as a member of the Hand and Peripheral nerve Clinic team that incorporates Orthopedic and Plastic surgery attending, managing patients in a high volume out-patient clinic, performing pre-operative and postoperative evaluation

  • Support the patient’s needs after major hand and upper extremity trauma as well as reconstructive surgery

  • Triage of upper extremity injuries to determine the need for surgical or non-operative management

  • Determine physical and occupational therapy needs, pain evaluation and treatment, readiness for surgery and early detection of complications such DVT, infection and surgical/implant issues

  • Function independently in a staff position to implement the role of expert practitioner, consultant, educator, and researcher within the specialized area of upper extremity trauma, arthritis, and plastics reconstruction

  • Collaborate with infectious disease, plastics, and pain services


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Master’s Degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing
Washington State Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner License with prescriptive privileges
License to practice as an RN in Washington State
National certification as a Nurse Practitioner
BLS certification

OR

Licensure as a Physician’s Assistant in the State of Washington
National certification from a national certifying body (NCCPA)
Applicant must be eligible to receive hospital staff appointments for adjunct staff membership by the Organized Medial Staff of the hospital under Medical Staff By-Laws for hospital-based positions
BLS certification
