This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.Join a dedicated team of engineers at Blue Origin, where you will lead the design, analysis, development, and qualification of next-generation components for the New Glenn Rocket. Key Responsibilities:āÆĀ Ā
Oversee the complete lifecycle ofĀ componentĀ systems, from defining requirements and interfaces through conceptual and detailed design, development, assembly, verification, qualification testing, operation, manufacturing support, and post-flight serviceability.āÆĀ
Ensure all cost, schedule, and performance targets are achieved through meticulous planning and execution.āÆĀ
Collaborate with suppliers and internal Blue Origin teams toĀ identify,Ā procure, and integrate high-quality components.āÆĀ
Perform sizing, material selection, and analyses (fluid flow, thermal, structural) to ensure performance under pressure, vibration, temperature, and mechanical loads.āÆĀ
Support fabrication, installation, and testing of flight hardware, working closely with suppliers and support organizations.āÆĀ
Contribute to all aspects of mechanical design, including requirements definition, layouts,Ā componentĀ selection, modeling, drafting, manufacturing, and test planning.Ā

Minimum Qualifications:āÆĀ Ā
Bachelorās degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.āÆĀ
7+ years of proven experience designing fluid, mechanical, or electro-mechanical systems for aerospace or similar high-reliability applications.āÆĀ
ProficiencyĀ in 3D CAD software (Creo preferred) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools (ANSYS preferred).Ā
ExpertiseĀ in creating engineering drawings with GD&T per ASME Y14.5 standards.āÆĀ
Knowledge ofĀ fluid or mechanical components such as valves, regulators, accumulators, mechanisms, or pumps.Ā
Strong interpersonal skills, withĀ a track recordĀ of building trust and fostering professional collaboration.āÆĀ
Passion for advancing safe human spaceflight and alignment with Blue Originās mission.Ā

Preferred Qualifications:āÆĀ Ā
Masterās degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, or a related field.āÆĀ
Experience in the aerospace or space industry, particularly with launch vehicles or ground systems.āÆĀ
Deep understanding of fabrication, integration, and quality control for tubes, machined parts, and welded assemblies.āÆĀ
ExpertiseĀ in designing systems for cryogenic fluids (e.g., hydrogen, oxygen, methane) or hydraulic systems in liquid/gaseous states.āÆĀ
ProficiencyĀ in thermo-fluid analysis tools, such as Thermal Desktop (SindaĀ Fluint), AFT (Fathom/Arrow), REFPROP, or Excel-based models.āÆĀ
Knowledge of materials properties, treatments, and aerospace-grade materials.āÆĀ
Demonstrated ability to manage supplier relationships, driveĀ componentĀ development, and support testing.āÆĀ

Compensation Range for:
WA applicants is $145,188.00 - $203,263.20Other site ranges may differ

Required for certain Job Profiles: Ability to obtain and maintain Merchant Mariner Credential, which includes pre-employment and random drug testing as well as DOT physical
