Job DetailsJob Location: Seattle Engineering Center - SEC - Seattle, WA 98108Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $220,854.00 SalaryJob Shift: DayJob Category: EngineeringAeroTEC 5601 6th Avenue South, Suite 410 Seattle, Washington 98108 bwright@aerotec.com 206-486-1435     PRINCIPAL ENGINEER Summary Description:     The Principal Engineer, is at an SME level and is responsible for overseeing engineering projects, which includes deadlines, budgets and providing guidance to multiple teams and developing forms of technology. This is a senior level with a high level of understanding and skill set. Oversees critical aspects of the position, including cross-functional or complex projects, and can even manage in an ongoing manner primary duties or tasks. This role can audit peer work, evaluate team or position processes and procedures, and works very independently with minimal supervision or management. This level interacts with senior management as needed and is recognized as a focal for some specialty skills sets within their field.   This role requires the significant exercise of independent discretion and judgment in matters of significance.   Job Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):   1. Review and support Certification Activities, including but not limited to: a. Supply expertise in area of system design engineering to support the development and certification flight testing for both new and supplemental type certificates. b. Create and review Development and Certification Plans. c. Create and review Component Qualification Test Plans, Qualification Test Procedures and Qualification Test Reports. d. Review system safety documents (PSSA, SFHA, AFHA, SSA and Particular Risk Analysis). e. Create, review and approve ground test procedures, flight test procedures and their corresponding test reports. f. Coordinate with certification authorities to seek clarification on requirements. g. Develop system requirements that adhere to traditional aerospace V&V methodologies.   2. Complete special projects and tasks assigned by Group Lead, Manager or Department Head.   3. Support Flight Testing Activities, including but not limited to: a. Assist with the development of test specification definition. b. Discuss, develop and review test plans and preparation activities with flight test team. c. Support the preparation and review pre and post flight briefings. d. Monitor live flight data, typically via telemetry, during flight test on aircraft. e. Process, analyze, and draw conclusions from post flight data. f. Identify non-conformances, quality escapes, etc. to create rejection tags. g. Make assessments to ensure safety of flight determination and continued airworthiness. h. Document flight test design problems for long term fix. i. Generate and review appropriate aircraft flight and ground limitations documentation. j. Definition of flight test instrumentation requirements.   Travel: Travel (flying and driving) to various domestic and international worksites and client offices are required. Frequent travel required to the Moses Lake Facility for extended periods of time during scheduled flight test operations. QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: High school diploma or foreign equivalent Twenty (20) years’ experience of Aerospace engineering design and development or related Must have a proficient working knowledge of 14 CFR Part 25 certification regulations, together with the associated means of compliance presented in AC 25-7C. Experience working with aircraft documentation (AMM, AFM, IPC, SRM, etc). Advanced computing skills including mechanical design program (e.g. Catia, NX, etc) Must have experience managing projects to completion and within budget.   ****OR ALTERNATE EQUIVALENT MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS****   Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Aerospace Engineering (Avionics, Electrical, Structures or Instrumentation) (18) years’ experience of Aerospace engineering design and development or related Must have a proficient working knowledge of 14 CFR Part 25 certification regulations, together with the associated means of compliance presented in AC 25-7C. Experience working with aircraft documentation (AMM, AFM, IPC, SRM, etc).
