DCI Engineers – Seattle
Join DCI Engineers in our Seattle, WA office as an Accounting Manager and play a key leadership role within the Finance team. Reporting to the Director of Accounting, this role helps maintain financial accuracy and accountability by upholding sound internal controls, ensuring GAAP compliance, and delivering timely, trustworthy financial information. You will lead the month-end close process, partner closely with internal stakeholders to identify and mitigate financial risks, and help build the financial discipline and transparency that support sustainable growth.
What You’ll Do:
As an Accounting Manager, you will lead core accounting processes, support strong financial controls, and help guide the Finance team through key operational priorities: Perform general office reception duties
Financial Accounting & Month-End Close
- Manage a timely, GAAP-compliant month-end close process, targeting a hard close within 10 business days of month end with financial reporting delivered within 2 business days of hard closeÂ
- Maintain a calendar month-end percent-of-completion (POC) revenue accrual process in accordance with ASC 606 within Deltek Vantagepoint. Collaborate with Project Managers, Billing Manager and the FP&A team on hours estimates and POC calculations to ensure accurate revenue recognitionÂ
- Oversee month-end close reconciliations to ensure accuracy of financial records and supporting documentationÂ
- Achieve clean audit results with no material adjustments to the financial statements & EBITDA; partner with the external audit team to fulfill requests and manage the annual audit processÂ
- Partner with the external tax team to ensure timely and accurate local, state, and federal tax filingsÂ
- Manage financial reporting and consolidations, transfer pricing, local tax compliance, statutory and regulatory compliance, treasury management, and internal controls for domestic and international entitiesÂ
- Oversee the annual 401(k) audit processÂ
- Maintain and document financial processes, policies, and related controls, including segregation of duties and appropriate authorization levelsÂ
- Manage the Finance System Administrator and coordinate Deltek Vantagepoint accounting system administration, enhancements, and reporting to drive process efficiency and reporting accuracyÂ
- In partnership with the legal team, ensure maintenance of proper business licenses and filings in each operating stateÂ
- Help coordinate the insurance renewal requests from our legal team and insurance broker process on a yearly basisÂ
- Stay current on accounting industry developments and legal/compliance updatesÂ
Treasury & Cash Management
- Support the Director of Accounting in managing banking relationships, including monitoring financial covenant compliance, ensuring timely lender reporting, and maintaining detailed support for add-backsÂ
- Manage Accounts Receivable with timely application of cash receipts, check deposits, and resolution of unapplied amountsÂ
- Manage Accounts Payable by implementing and enforcing an approval process for invoices prior to payment authorizationÂ
- Evaluate A/P module options within Deltek Vantagepoint to strengthen controlsÂ
- Maximize cash flow by optimizing working capital through disciplined payables managementÂ
Team & Talent Development
- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a high-performing, metrics-driven, and service-oriented cultureÂ
- Hire, retain, and develop A-player Finance professionals to support function and business growthÂ
- Evaluate direct reports and organizational structure for potential restructuring and/or top-grading opportunitiesÂ
- Assess immediate and longer-term headcount needs and make recommendations to the Director of AccountingÂ
- Hold the team accountable for goals and priorities; proactively identify and address underperformanceÂ
Mergers & Acquisitions Support
- In partnership with the Director of Accounting, support rapid and thoughtful integration of acquired companies with minimal disruption to the businessÂ
- Assist with financial due diligence for future acquisition pursuitsÂ
- Develop plans to migrate and integrate acquired entities’ accounting into DCI’s standard monthly processes and systemsÂ
What You Bring:
To succeed as an Accounting Manager, you should bring the following skills and experiences:Â
- Bachelor’s degree in accountingÂ
- CPA preferred, but not required; minimum of 6-8 years of progressive accounting experienceÂ
- Public accounting experience a plusÂ
- Advanced knowledge of ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition), with hands-on experience managing revenue recognition for professional services contractsÂ
- Demonstrated experience managing and developing a team of accounting professionalsÂ
- Experience in service-based industries – engineering, consulting, legal, or similar preferredÂ
- Experience with Deltek Vantagepoint strongly preferredÂ
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, and financial reportingÂ
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems, including experience with ERP platforms and financial reporting toolsÂ
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively with leadership, cross-functional teams, and external partiesÂ
- Comfortable managing both detailed day-to-day accounting activities and higher-level process improvement, strategic initiatives, and leadership responsibilitiesÂ
- Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced, high-growth, entrepreneurial environmentÂ
- Ability to work in-office five days per week in our Seattle office.
