This position contributes to REI's success by supporting the non-emergency functions of the Asset Protection (AP) Operations Center which include but are not limited to: new store planning and execution, background investigations, and workers compensation and insurance claims support. In this role, you will facilitate on-boarding new customers and services and will be responsible for driving standardization as the Co-op Emergency Coordination Center expands our capacity to meet and exceed the co-op's changing needs, contribute to cross-divisional teams and working groups, and manage key collaborative relationships that support the progression of in-fight projects and high impact initiatives.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Your Planning & Navigating Requirements (the plans the job is responsible for creating and executing, and how the job ensures they are implemented)

  • Develops, implements, and collaborates on business continuity training programs and supports internal and external stakeholders on departmental projects.
  • Reviews content of documents for all non-emergent work absorbed by the Co-ECC for accuracy in compliance with specific program guidelines and policies.
  • Maintains the REI's Business Continuity web portal and backup materials.
  • Collaborates with each department to ensure they've identified the required BC support personnel and provides assistance with meeting or exceeding department expectations.
  • Uses advanced problem-solving skills, sound judgement, tact, discretion and calm to gather information and initiate appropriate next steps and documentation.
  • Recommend proactive solutions to mitigate risks.
  • Follow AP Operations Center action plans and support business continuity efforts by providing intelligence and documentation used for decision making and communication to the field.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of AP processes and procedures for stores, distribution centers and headquarters
  • Provide constructive input on guidelines and practices that will enhance the quality of service and support the AP Operations Center provides.
  • Work location is your home but must be within 30 miles of an REI location. You will travel to that REI location in the event of a power or internet outage at your home. Occasional visits to this or other REI locations may be required.
  • Work location must have reliable power and high speed (>100Mbs) broadband internet.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • 4+ years customer support experience.
  • 2+ years of business continuity planning or related experience.
  • Uses business knowledge, innovative thinking, and sound judgement in the solution of problems or the pursuit of business opportunities.

  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.

  • Ability to work any shift, including weekends and serve in an on-call rotation that include holidays if needed.
