Our client is a growing residential water mitigation company serving homeowners throughout Western Washington, with a primary concentration in the greater Seattle metropolitan area. They specializes exclusively in residential water mitigation and are expanding the business development team and are seeking an experienced, highly driven Business Development Representative who can build a strong and sustainable book of business through relationships with plumbers, roofers, carpet cleaners, property service providers, and other residential trade partners.
This is a field-based, performance-driven sales position suited for someone who understands how water mitigation companies work, knows how to build credibility with plumbing companies and other trades, and is comfortable creating business through persistent prospecting and relationship development. The successful candidate will take full ownership of their territory and referral network. This is an “eat what you kill” environment with a strong base salary, uncapped commission potential, accelerators, and the resources necessary to grow a substantial book of business.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop new referral relationships with plumbing companies, plumbing supply houses, roofers, carpet cleaners, HVAC providers, and other complementary trade businesses.
Prospect daily through cold calls, email outreach, in-person visits, networking, introductions, and market research.
Identify and prioritize referral partners with the potential to generate consistent, high-quality water mitigation opportunities.
Build relationships with business owners, branch managers, dispatchers, technicians, sales representatives, and other referral decision-makers.
Create and execute account-specific strategies to win, grow, retain, and reactivate referral partnerships.
Maintain consistent visibility with prospective and existing partners through field visits, presentations, educational meetings, appreciation activities, and timely follow-up.
Attend local networking events, trade meetings, association functions, and community activities.
Travel throughout the Seattle metropolitan area and Western Washington to develop and support referral accounts.
Deliver approved marketing materials, appreciation gifts, food, and other relationship-building items to prospective and existing partners.
Handle inbound business development inquiries and ensure prospective referral partners receive prompt and professional follow-up.
Track referral activity, job volume, account engagement, pipeline opportunities, and follow-up commitments using the company’s current reporting processes.
Develop formal account plans for priority plumbing companies and other high-value referral targets.
Coordinate closely with operations, project managers, leadership, and administrative staff to ensure referred customers receive a positive and responsive experience.
Follow up with referral partners after job assignments, when appropriate, to reinforce confidence, address concerns, and strengthen the relationship.
Report regularly on referral activity, pipeline development, account performance, market feedback, and business development results.
Manage relationship-development activities within an approved sales and marketing budget that scales with generated revenue.
Participate in sales meetings, performance reviews, account-planning sessions, and strategy discussions with the Head of Business Development, General Manager, and company founder.
Assist with the future implementation and adoption of HubSpot or another CRM platform while maintaining accurate records through the company’s existing tracking systems.
The Business Development Rep generates and develops referral relationships but is not responsible for managing the mitigation project itself.
Once a water mitigation opportunity is received:
- The referral is transferred to the appropriate project or operations team member.
- A Project Manager responds to the customer, evaluates the loss, presents the recommended mitigation services, and closes the job.
- The Business Development Rep remains engaged at the account level to support the referring partner relationship.
Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in business development, outside sales, account management, or referral-partner development.
- Existing knowledge of residential water mitigation, property restoration, emergency services, or a closely related industry.

- Proven ability to create new accounts through cold outreach and in-person prospecting.
