UW Medical Center–Northwest has an outstanding opportunity for a full time Clinical Nurse Educator to join us in our Operating Room.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
The Clinical Nurse Educator role will provide leadership for the assurance of clinical workforce competence, emphasizing service excellence, patient safety, staff safety and organizational values. This position is primarily an educator role, with responsibility for developing and maintaining competencies, evaluating performance of staff, and developing and evaluating tools for evidence-based practice orientation and learning, ensuring all annual training of staff is completed while fostering professional development.


PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Education, Orientation & Competency Development (Primary Focus)
  • Lead orientation, onboarding, and competency validation for Operating Room nursing staff.
  • Evidence-Based Practice, Quality & Safety
  • Promote evidence-based practice and integration of national perioperative standards into clinical care.
  • Staff Development & Performance Support
  • Coach, mentor, and support staff’s professional growth and competency development.
  • Operational & Organizational Support
  • Support unit initiatives, education planning, and implementation of practice changes.
  • Professional Expectations
  • Comply with HIPAA, UWMC Compliance Program, and infection prevention policies.
  • Uphold UWMC Standards for Service Excellence and ARISE values.

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current Washington State Registered Nurse license or valid Multistate license.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Masters, or enrolled in Master of Nursing program
  • Minimum of two years of professional surgical nursing experience or equivalent education/experience.
  • Demonstrated experience as an Operating Room registered nurse, with proficiency in perioperative nursing practice
