Overview

Shimmick, via our electrical subsidiary, Axia Electric, is seeking a highly talented Electrical Project Director based in the greater Seattle, WA area. This role will provide operational and project execution support for current and/or upcoming electrical projects.

Axia Electric, LLC

Since the early 1990s, Shimmick has been self-performing electrical scopes for infrastructure projects. In 2025 the Electrical Division rebranded to Axia Electric, a subsidiary to Shimmick Construction. Axia offers electrical, instrumentation, and process controls expertise for water and wastewater treatment; dams and locks; mass transit and rail; alternative energy; power generation and transmission; and commercial building projects. Our ability to self-perform this specialty work offers additional value and enables us to better control cost and schedule for projects with major electrical and process mechanical scopes. Our clients include municipalities, water districts, sanitation districts, transit agencies, private developers, DOTs, and USACE.

 

Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Directs and manages the entire project, guidance to subordinate managers, enforces company and project policies, and a primary liaison between Shimmick and client interface.
  • Accountable for ensuring all facets of the project are constructed in accordance with design, budget and schedule.
  • Overall responsibility and management of project including but not limited to pre-construction budgeting/schedule stage, procurement, through contract closeout.
  • Position has primary fiscal responsibility and key liaison between client for assigned project.
  • Assesses and manages risk on behalf of the client.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience related to electrical construction projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Established experience leading electrical infrastructure construction projects in the greater Seattle market, with strong local owner, agency, contractor, and industry relationships.
  • Demonstrated business development experience, including identifying opportunities, developing client relationships, and contributing to project pursuits and revenue growth.
  • Proven ability to build, mentor, and lead high-performing project teams while providing strategic oversight to Project Managers and operations staff.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and consistent attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage changing deadlines and work well under pressure for multiple team leaders.
  • Work independently and effectively to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.

The salary range for this position is between $170,000-$200,000 per year depending on experience and/or education.
