This role contributes to REI's success by providing highly complex, strategic administrative support to the Chief Executive Officer. The Executive Assistant enables the CEO's effectiveness by ensuring day-to-day and long range executive support is delivered in a manner that advances enterprise priorities and business objectives.
The role partners closely with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to stay aligned with strategic priorities, board and governance cycles, and evolving business needs. Serving as the primary point of contact and liaison for the CEO, this role manages internal and external relationships, coordinates executive outreach and external relations, and oversees all CEO travel and speaking engagements.
The Executive Assistant also serves as a key leader within the headquarters administrative community, driving administrative process improvements through influence and collaboration. This role models and acts in accordance with REI's mission, values, and leadership expectations.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
Executive Support & Workflow
- Manages the CEO's calendar, workflow, and priorities to align time and energy with enterprise level objectives.
- Triages and responds to a high volume of internal and external requests, applying judgment based on strategic impact, risk, and urgency.
- Researches, prioritizes, and follows up on sensitive issues addressed to the CEO, determining appropriate actions or referrals.
- Leads special projects and ad hoc assignments requiring cross functional coordination.
- Provides support outside of normal business hours (including evenings and weekends) as needed when urgent issues arise.
Communications & External Engagement
- Acts as an extension of the CEO in daily operations, communications, and relationship management.
- Serves as the primary point of contact and liaison for internal and external stakeholders.
- Partners with Communications and Events teams to coordinate executive meetings, speaking engagements, media interactions, and related logistics.
- Prepares and reviews presentations, correspondence, and materials reflecting the CEO's voice and style.
Board & Governance
- Supports engagement and communication with the Board of Directors and committee chairs.
- Partners with the Board Coordinator to plan and execute board and governance cycles, including scheduling, materials review, and onsite support.
Meetings, Travel & Expenses
- Ensures CEO readiness for all meetings by preparing briefs, pre-reads, background context, and risk considerations.
- Provides administrative support for Executive Leadership Team meetings.
- Arranges and manages high volume executive travel, events, and itineraries.
- Manages and reconciles CEO expenses and reviews expense reports for approval.
Risk & Confidentiality
- Exercises the highest level of discretion in handling sensitive, confidential, and high risk enterprise information.
- Partners with Asset Protection and Risk Management to plan executive security needs related to travel and engagements.
Administrative Leadership
- Provides leadership, coordination, and mentorship across the administrative community. Partners with Executive Leadership Team Executive Assistants to align priorities, coordinate cross-divisional work, and improve administrative processes.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of administrative and clerical support experience, including previous experience supporting corporate upper-level managers and/or executives.
- Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effectively juggles multiple projects and drives toward deadlines.
- Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills. Ability to draft, proofread and edit documents for spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Demonstrates high level of maturity, professionalism, and judgment.
- High level of proficiency using MS Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CoPilot
- Ability to manage an executive's calendar and make travel arrangements.
- Ability to use discretion when dealing with information of a sensitive or confidential nature.

Pay Range
$85,400.00 - $136,700.00 per year
